Delphi Classics: A hidden Oasis for English Teachers to eat their hearts out
DRM bothers me the way a spicy kidney stone bothers every person with a uretha. It sucks to remove the DRM as the usual process with a "Certain" plugin with Calibre requires a set up with WINE on linux and amazon credentials which are then exported into another directory. This leaves me with a deep-hearted appreciation for the few publishers making an effort to publish their books without DRM. One of those publishers I wanna highlight today is Delphi Classics.
Straight from their website they describe themselves as:
"We are a publishing team that blends our love of classic literature and art with consummate eBook editing skills. What separates Delphi Classics from other digital publishers of classic literature is our dedication to providing the actual complete works of authors, as we seek out rare and ‘lost’ texts to add to our attractive editions. For the first time in publishing history, readers can enjoy the complete works of writers such as Virginia Woolf, Mark Twain, James Joyce, D. H. Lawrence, Beatrix Potter and many, many more in a single edition. And each collection is charged at less than the price of a cup of coffee."
Mind you, the writers they included are but are not limited to "Albert Camus, Ernest Hemingway, Mary Shelley" and even a collection of slave narratives collected from the 1800s in the United States. They also have this interesting ebook series called "Masters of Art" which presents art works in an ebook format accompanied by blurbs explaining the context related to the work as well as related texts that add context to the artist and their style. An easy example being their offering on Vincent Van Gogh which includes his letters and his biography written by his sister in law. Now you might be wondering how much the people charge for large compilations of works. The answer is pennies on the dollar considering how much you get. For the Van Gogh example above, the cost is $2.99 USD. Give them a look and hopefully you find something that piques your interest. Link here: https://www.delphiclassics.com/
